NATIONAL GREENING PROGRAM
National Greening Program (NGP) was launched last February 01, 2011 by virtue of Executive Order No. 26. NGP aims to plant 1.5 Billion trees in 1.5 Million hectares of public land in the country in six years, starting from 2011 to 2016. NGP envisioned to attain a sustainable human development and economic and ecological security of Filipinos.
Among the five (5) Provinces of Caraga Region, PENRO Agusan del Sur shares the largest chunk in terms of target in the implementation of NGP. From 2011 to 2015, PENRO Agusan del Sur has developed a total of 38,265 hectares with 20,466,965 seedlings of various commodities like rubber, cacao, bamboo, falcata, mahogany, fruit trees and other indigenous species that are suitable in the area.
Most of the recepients of the project are Indigenous People/ Upland dwellers who are members of a registered People's Organizations (PO) and Community Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA) Holders.
